Can We Talk About “The L Word”?

For starters let’s look at the definition itself…Google defines it as “an intense feeling of deep affection.”  or “a great interest and pleasure in something.”  defines it as “a profoundly tender, passionate affection for another person.”or “a feeling of warm personal attachment or deep affection, as for a parent, child, or friend.” (Both definitions of course mentioned sex but let’s stay focused)

With both definitions using words like “an intense feeling” or “deep affection” I can see why some people use the word Love so cautiously. They make Love sound so serious, a little intimidating, hell it might even make you question if you mean it to the people you’ve always said it to. I’ve always heard Love is hard. I know people who hardly ever say the words ” I Love You”, but I know they indeed harness Love and compassion. I also know people who sees Love as a “weakness” (Heartbreaking right?) because Love makes you vulnerable. I’ve even witnessed people get uncomfortable around people who are just genuinely loving and caring beings. Granted these people can have past traumas that makes them this way but there’s a LOT of people who struggle adapting to Love of any sort.

Me personally I would LOVE (see what I did there lol) it if Love was just second nature like breathing. It would make me so happy if Love was EVERY WHERE…ALL THE TIME (which don’t get me wrong it is). I always question why in some situations Hate is so easy to accept while Love is often pushed away or questioned? Why are some people so easily angered but act like it’s impossible to easily Love?

Now when I say Love I mean it in a very generic sense not in a “deep” and “passionate” manner. Like to simply love freely…no expectations attached, that person you say it to doesn’t have to love you back…you just simply Love from a place of gratitude. And I’m not only talking about the people you know NNNNNOOOOOO I’m talking about EVERYBODY! What if Love was so second nature that you loved and had some sort of peace and compassion for all beings? (I’ve been called a hippie love child for asking that question before and I Love the title…allow me to dive a little deeper before you write me off please lol)

Now Buddhism (I love some of their practices) teaches that there are four types of Love…. Loving Kindness, Compassion, Appreciative Joy, and Equanamity. Which, to me, are four important principles to being able to Love Freely without attachment. The Buddhist Priest Osho said that “love demands nothing. It simply shares.”  (LOVEEEEE IT). Buddhist Monk Yongdzin Ling Rinpoche believes that “True love is the desire to maintain the happiness of all beings impartially, regardless of whether we like them or not.” (SEEEEEE THIS IS A THING!!!!)

So even if you’re not into Buddhism the ability to Love Freely and without attachment is a thing. Every time I’ve been to a Pride celebration (not pushing my personal beliefs or agendas on you I swear) there was always people walking around with “FREE HUG” signs and saying I Love You to complete strangers, people they’ll probably never see again in their lives, and honestly I’ve felt it. I got to experience unconditional Love from a person who wanted absolutely nothing from me than to see me tap into my potential and Love myself. Then I realized that’s where it starts.

I realized you can not wholeheartedly give unconditional, undemanding Love until you learn to PROPERLY Love thy self. And the first step to properly Loving thy self is to truly get in touch with all aspects of your being. Get to know your soul, work through your fears, and truly become aligned with your spiritual being then Love becomes the easiest thing to give and Hate is nowhere in sight. Become so in Love with the true being of yourself that you drive away your Pride and Ego. To me that’s the first step. (oh and it takes time, patient, and discipline)

So there it is. I challenge you to learn yourself and your true art of being. I challenge you to love unconditionally. Oh and this is no easy challenge (I know) but wouldn’t it be worth it to have peace of mind so beautiful that it inspires, spreads, and motivates? Wouldn’t it feel so good to Love every being so freely that that Love spreads to those around you and so on and so forth? (Like generational wealth kinda)

A girl can have Dreams can’t she? 🙂
